1. The Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Rural Housing Service (RHS) also have special foundation requirements for mobile homes that they finance.
2. Anchoring must comply with the manufacturer’s instructions or as required by local codes. Anchoring is not a “do-it-yourself” project.
3. Because some foundation supports may settle unevenly, it’s important to periodically check that the home is staying level. The first check should be done 60 to 90 days after installation, and then once a year.
4. All piping and fixtures subject to freezing temperatures should be insulated or protected to prevent freezing, under normal occupancy.
That's just a few ways manufactured homes are different from permanent structures.
Structure Check continues to expand its knowledge of manufactured and modular home construction, inspection practices, and the unique conditions found in these properties. Our inspection approach is built around continued education and real-world field experience.
Structure Check provides independent home inspections of existing manufactured and mobile homes in New Hampshire. Our inspections evaluate the accessible components and systems of the home, including the structure, foundation/support system, exterior, roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, interior, crawlspace, moisture conditions, and other readily accessible components.
A private home inspection is different from a New Hampshire manufactured-home installation inspection, municipal inspection, HUD production inspection, or an engineering certification. When a specific lender, financing program, municipality, or other party requires a particular HUD form, certification, or inspection credential, we can help identify the appropriate inspection or professional required.

The terms manufactured home and mobile home are often used interchangeably when referring to factory-built housing constructed under the federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards, commonly known as the HUD Code. A manufactured home is constructed in a factory and transported to its site in one or more sections. Each transportable section is required to display a red certification label on the exterior, indicating that the section was constructed in compliance with the federal HUD Code. The term "mobile home" is commonly used by homeowners, buyers, sellers, real estate professionals, and the general public, while "manufactured home" is the industry and regulatory term generally used for homes built under the HUD Code. For inspection purposes, Structure Check uses both terms because our customers may search for either manufactured home inspection or mobile home inspection when looking for an inspector.
